Lesslie Walker Smith papers, 1926-1980.

Papers in the collection include orders, after-action reports, memoranda, recommendations, letters, records of the court martial of Captain DeFuniak, and certificates, 1926-1980. Also included is Smith's memory book (scrapbook) documenting his time as a student at Norwich University. There is also a scrapbook/photograph album documenting Smith's time in service during World War II. Locations represented include Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, Kentucky, Texas, New Mexico, California, Tennessee, the United Kingdom, France, Luxembourg, Belgium and Germany. The volume also contains certificates, permit, ID cards, dog tags, programs and immunization and service records, 1941-1946. Most of the photographs and postcards included in the scrapbook have detailed captions.

Originally from Springfield, MA, Lesslie Smith graduated with the Norwich University class of 1926. While at Norwich, Smith played polo and was a member of the Samosets and the Civil Engineering Society. He was also a swordsman and belonged to the Alpha Sigma Pi fraternity. Lesslie Smith was a member of Headquarters Company, 172nd Infantry, Vermont National Guard.
